United States Thanksgiving Day

Sorry if I'm not updating this blog anymore. I'm so busy with this and this and this and this and this. But, since this is a holiday in the United States, I decided to design a flag for the holiday, Thanksgiving Day.
The red, white, and blue are from the flags of the United States, the Protestants, and the United Kingdom. The cross represents the reason why the Puritans and Separatists (Pilgrims) came to America from England: to worship God in their own way. I have no idea why I chose white as the background, but I think it looks nice.
Why no turkey? Well, don't you think a flag would look stupid with a turkey on it? What about other foods? Well, I just didn't include any food on the flag because I didn't want it to get messy. LOL just kidding. I don't think food is a good symbol to put on a flag, and if you include one food, you pretty much have to include all of the food commonly associated with Thanksgiving in the United States. But you can use this flag as a tablecloth if it's big enough; that way, you can "put food on it". ;-)

United States

Isn't this beautiful? I love it. The bald eagle is the national symbol of the United States. The blue and yellow go great together, too. It is beautiful.

BIG NEWS

The flag of the United States of America is a bad flag. Many people, especially Americans, disagree with that statement. Why do they? Well, my guess is because they are attached to it and have grown up with the design and feel that if they criticized their nation's flag, they would feel unpatriotic or something. In other words, they are proud of their nation and feel that they should be proud of their flag. This should not be the case. People should not be proud of a bad flag design.

Now people ask, "Why is it a bad flag design? It has tons of sybolism, and it looks great." Yes, that is true, but did you know that a flag will always have a lot of symbolism if you cram way too many symbols onto one design? That is why the United States flag is bad. Because it is much too complicated. People might say, "No, it is not complicated. There are only stars and stripes." Now, that is false. Only stars and stripes? And how many stars and stripes are there? "Only sixty-three." Only sixty-three? ONLY? The United States flag is complicated and should be changed.

Some people might ask, "Why does it need to be changed after 47 years?" Well, things change over time, especially the United States. The original thirteen stripes and Union Jack wasn't a good design, either. Way too many stripes; it gives some people headaches, I'm guessing. Also looks like a candy cane when wrapped around a pole. Now that's funny.
Anyway, things change, and flags do, too. It is time for a change. Also, did you ever wonder why the stars are five-pointed? There is no reason. There goes a lot of that "symbolism". What do stars have to do with the United States? Nothing. There goes a lot more of the symbolism.

Then people might ask, "Well, no design could be better than the current United States flag." If people design some, we will find one design which stands out.

I am hoping for a new flag for the United States of America. I will be trying to design some, and looking for more. If you have any designs, please email them to me.

It is time for a better flag for the United States of America. I can't wait!

Cascadia

This is a flag design for the proposed nation of Cascadia. This flag was designed by Andrew Rogers, and you can read more about Cascadia and his flag designs at andrewrogers.net.
Cascadia is a proposed nation which would consist of the current British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon. There are also many proposed flags for this could-be nation. The most popular one can be found on the Wikipedian Casacadia article, but I think it looks way too much like the flag of Lesotho, and the black evergreen just does not make any sense at all.
This design by Andrew Rogers is simple and symbolic. The seven five-pointed stars represent the "seven original commonwealths that formed the kingdom". The green is the color of evergeens, which are very easy to find in "Cascadia". You can find more of Andrew Rogers' designs at this website.

Ohio

This is an improvement of the current flag of Ohio, with the stars removed. The stars on Ohio's current flag makes it too complicated.

Sydney, Australia

The city of Sydney, Australia, currently does have a flag, with a flag and a flag and a flag on a flag with another flag. Really. Oh, yeah, and a ship.
I designed this flag for Sydney trying to come up with a simple but good-looking design. I placed a seven-pointed star, a national symbol of Australia, in the place of honor, the canton. I gave the flag a red background, with yellow and blue stripes representing Sydney Harbor and the Pacific Ocean. The colors were taken from Sydney's current flag.

Oregon

This Oregon flag design is the best I have ever seen. I found it at andrewrogers.net, and it was designed by Brian Truncale, who designed many improvements to an original design by Andrew Rogers. (more info at andrewrogers.net)
Blue and yellow are the state colors of Oregon. The stylized bird in the canton area of the flag is a meadowlark, the state bird of Oregon. It is not only in the place of honor, the canton, but the direction it is flying in represents Oregon's geographic position in the United States.
Many other versions of the flag can be found at andrewrogers.net.

Maine

This Maine flag design is, in my opinion, the perfect symbol for the state of Maine. The pine tree in the center of the flag was inspired by the pine free shading the dead elk on the Maine state flag. The five-pointed star is a symbol of the United States, and when it is on a blue background, it looks similar to the stars in the canton of the United States flag. The blue and green were inspired by Maine's current flag.
Maine's current flag is one of the worst flags in the world. Not only is it ugly, but there are two people that somehow represent the state on there, and the one furthest away from the hoist looks bored out of his mind. The design shown above is just perfect.
The flag's original design was discovered here.

Boston, Massachusetts

The current flag of Boston, Massachusetts, has the city's seal in the center of a field of blue, which makes it look extremely similar to many United States state flags, especially Minnesota's and South Dakota's.
This Boston flag design has blue, green, and red, the state colors of Massachusetts, along with another Massachusetts state symbol, a pine tree. The white was added not only to separate the blue, green, and red, but to also represent the United States and Massachusetts, as the background of the Massachusetts state flag is white.
