Israel

I designed this flag for the nation of Israel not because I thought their flag was bad (it's an awesome flag!), but because there are some political issues concerning the flag of Israel, and many people want to remove the blue stripes on the flag. This design shows the Israel "Star of David" in a triangle on the hoist of a blue background, which is similar to one of their historical flags. Israel has many flags with blue background, and this was inspired by many of those designs.

Are you aware that there is a reason for the flag of Israel having blue stripes as opposed to a blue background like you have here?

"Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribbon of blue:
And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them ; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:
That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.
I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD your God." Numbers 15: 38-41.

The blue bands are a sign of the covenant.

That is a very good point, and I agree with you. I always thought the blue bands were a great symbol, but political leaders want them removed for some reason, so I did this for them just in case that happens. (like they'll come here) Thanks, hanson! ;-)

The flag shown here already exists: it's the Israeli naval ensign. Do a little research, will you?

Okay. Thanks for the advice. By the way, what exactly is a naval ensign used for?

1. A naval ensign is used by a navy. It is often distinct from the national flag on land. This is not the case in the US, which is why you may be unfamiliar with it. Britain uses the "Union Jack" on land but the Royal Navy flies the White Ensign.

2. You also describe the Israeli proposal as the star on a circle (not drawn). Israel has a merchant flag (civilian ensign) which is blue with the star on an ellipse. Britain, by the way, flies the Red Ensign from its civilian ships. (They have a third, Blue Ensign, for non-military government vessels.)

Oh! I see. I think I forgot to update the post. My original design had a blue background with a white circle and the Star of David in the center of the white circle. That was my original idea, but someone made a comment that it looked too much like the Satanist symbol, with an inverted pentagram inside a circle. I did not want anyone to think that, so I changed the design. Thanks!

(btw you're a NAVAn, arent u?)

Although it's a nice design, it's better to keep the flag the way it is now, based on Numbers 15: 38-41.
